MA TESOL, Teachers College Columbia University
BS Fashion Merchandising, University of Rhode Island
Theresa started her career in New York City’s fast-paced fashion industry. Holding various positions in merchandising, sales, planning, and production, she often partnered with international affiliates and trained new hires. While gaining exposure to the various facets of the industry, she was drawn to cultivate her task-oriented nature, her interest in multicultural interaction, and her desire to serve. Moving forward with a daunting career change, she earned a master’s degree in TESOL and drew on her corporate experience. She discovered a niche in teaching academic English to international art and design students. She simultaneously navigated among a variety of business contexts training native and nonnative English speaking professionals in various industries (financial, marketing, nonprofit, environmental) in the public and private sectors. As her enthusiasm for exchanging ideas and creating meaning in the field intensified, a piqued interest in educating teachers evolved into a passionate drive. Teacher training, in NYC and internationally, emerged as an additional pursuit towards greater professional depth.
She is committed to refining her craft as she collaborates with her students to design flexible, customized, goal-oriented courses.
